everything covered in snow. The nights were a little chilly but it was nice to get away and the furnace in the camper worked great.
Some of the sites are getting new fireplaces. Looks like all the peninsula loop water sites were getting upgraded if needed. It looks like they were going

Wow! What

a difference. We did indeed get lucky again opening weekend to have the warmer weather, certainly no snow.

So I gather the bricks must be a new method they are trying to make the fireplaces last longer? Easier/cheaper to replace perhaps?

I wonder

how how those bolts will last however before the heat loosens them up.

Good to see some tents again! We certainly didn't see any opening weekend, and it was warmer.

Any movement on the removal of the shoreline project fences? (probably to early yet)

Congrats on the new to you camper! Now you'll have to get a new shot for your profile/sig photo :)

Thanks for posting report 'n photos Bob!

Cheers

I was the other camper that R Pierce was talking about. I was camping in a Little Guy Silver Shadow. when

I arrived on Sunday afternoon (April 22) there was one RV, a family in two tents and a couple in one tent. Monday, April 23 I was the only one camping and then RP arrived on April 24th. Monday morning I woke up to some snow on the ground. Tuesday was a very windy

. Wednesday was a pretty good day (although, every day in the Adirondacks is great to me) and I was able to get out and kayak (still had snow/sleet showers). Thursday is when I had to leave and headed to Old Forge. While I only kayaked

on Wednesday, it was an all day trip all around Fish Creek, Rollins Pond (thanks to R Pierce), Whey Pond and others that I don't remember the names. I mountain biked

every day on the trails and around the entire campground. It was my second time at Fish Creek and it did not disappoint. I love snow, so it was sort of a bonus that on and off for the whole week I had a tasting of it. Funny that I couldn't make it up snowmobiling this past year because of the lack of snow and then in April to have it...that's another reason I love the Adirondacks...you never know what

the weather will be like. I stayed warm in the Silver Shadow just by throwing a couple blankets on me at night. In the mornings I started the generator and ran the a portable heater for a few minutes to get dressed...then it was out to play.

I took some pictures, but I cannot figure out

how to download them to this site. I have completed a "blog" for my trip. If you would like to see some pictures you may check it out at: johnsgreatadventures.blogspot.com (again, I am not sure how to install the link so you will have to copy and paste it).

I envy all of you that can get to Fish Creek and the Adirondacks in a couple hours. My trip is around 16 hours. This was my 12th year kayaking

in the Adirondacks. I get a two week vacation, one week of kayaking in the Adirondacks and 2-3 days snowmobiling in the Adirondacks. Hope to be back up this fall and I will be staying at Fish Creek again (have a few days left since I couldn't make it up snowmobiling this year due to the lack of snow).

PS Dave, thanks for your the advice you gave me before heading up. I appreciate it!

Hi John and welcome to the site!

You certainly got you're moneys worth enjoying FCP for this early in the year! We sure lucked out for opening weekend this year.

Did you happen to pass via Scotia NY on your way home from Old Forge? Someone mentioned they saw a teardrop passing through yesterday... mind you we know a few teardrop owners in that area.

Certainly a long drive for you. Try to make it to the TearUp sometime if you can in June! We are certainly seeing a lot of Silver Shadows these days. They seem to be the most popular teardrop sold these days. We even have a dealer now in Pembroke Ontario.

Thanks Dave. I came back on April 28. I wish it was me that your friends saw, that would have given me another week or two up there. I tried to get that weekend in June off, my boss would not hear of it. Hope to be up in the fall again. Is there a quick and easy way to upload photos?

Yes you just click on the CampersPhotos link then 'add album' and 'add item'. It is a way to complex gallery setup compared to what

we really need. Lots of bloadware. I'll have a much more painless system setup soon. Hope to implement drag and drop which is super easy. Good luck!
