there for life. Is there any way we can keep this place a secret? Guess not - the word is out ! Best place in all of the Adirondacks - and one of the best in the country.

Surprisingly, we saw a picture of our "roadside critter" - Snoopy - posted by someone other than us with a digital camera. Nice to know we're on the web - in one way or another.

We are there EVERY year - - - I've been going

there since I was a kid ( 8 or 10 years old, maybe - ? - not every year as a kid).

After getting married, my wife and I started with a tent for 9 years, a pop-up for 17, and now a 30' trailer for the past 14 years - - - only in the early years might we have missed a trip to FCP.

My daughter is now 24 years old - and we took her there EVERY YEAR since she was 3 months old ! We were worried that she would break her string of 24 consecutive years, because she had just started a new job with Lockheed Martin in New Jersey. Thanks to "big company" benefits, she was able to get a couple of days off, and made the 9 1/2 hour trek to join us for 4 days this past August - her 25th year in a row!

We are sometimes able to go a couple of times a year, but not as often as I would like. Snoopy has been with us for many years now - and is always a big hit with young and old as they walk by our site. It's been fun, and we've met a lot of nice people because of him. I hope you'll stop by and say hello when

How about you - what

Thanks for helping spread the word. We have met so many great people at FCP that we thought it would be great to have somewhere

As far as our history. Back in 2003 we had a camping trip scheduled to some park here in Ontario, but my wife got the flu and so we cancelled

our reservation. A few days later she was feeling better, so we decided to try to find

somewhere else to go. We often visit VT, NH and NY and thought we should check out one of the state parks. I did a bit of surfing on the net and found someones comment about how great Fish Creek was. So we just drove down and were totally blowin away! We had never seen a park with so many prime water sites. We had no reservation and had to move a few times. Our first site as FCP newbies was Site 298

. Anyways we were hooked! Some whoever posted that comment on the net had a big effect on our camping lives. We have been dealing with are addiction by consulting :drphil: however.

Since 2003 we have been to Fish Creek 19 times (total of 84 nights). We have a new 19ft Airstream Bambi on order, so next year we plan to start our camping much earlier, probably in April if we get decent weather. Camping mid May is certainly a hoot!

We hope to be there once or twice more before the snow

flys.

After working so much on the site photos and campsite guide

, and spending ridiculouse number of hours analyzing sites and taking notes on most trips, I think we have figured out the secret list of prime sites. Are these a protected secret? Will anyone share? :gasp:

Not sure if I should fill in the 'rating' field in the campsite guide for this reason.

But I am willing to share the fact that Site 136

and 137 are probably the least desireable 'water' sites. But still would be considered excellent sites elsewhere!

Actually I added the Snoopy emoticon after I saw you had registered with your snoopy photo. I had created snoopy for another forum I run.

2003 ! Wow - you're actually "newbies" - - - but it doesn't matter - - anyone who loves FCP is part of the family.

When

I get more time, I would like to post some thoughts and memories of my own - and perhaps share some "secrets" with a slecet few ..........

My nephew missed FCP so much, that he towed his ski boat all the way from Detroit just to join us for a few days. He had a ball re-living his childhood days (although this time he didn't fall off the dock

!).

Has the Park, or the NYS DEC made any commetns about this site? I would think they would love teh publicity - but this is NYS ......... and you never know .........

I want to start a forum on FCP FIREPLACES. We are horrified to see the introduction (in just the last couple of years) of metal fire rings and barrels. Terrible ! Long live the big old stone Adirondack Fireplace - - -

Towed his boat from Detroit? LOL. Thats a haul!

Actually we bought our 17ft runabout last year, just because of Fish Creek.

We store it a boat storage place about 10 minutes north of Fish Creek, and leave it there all summer.

Don't know anyone at the park or DEC who knows about this site. Haven't mentioned it to anyone there either for that matter.

Family Start Over

Postby LtPoopsie on Sat Sep 30, 2006 9:09 am

Hello everyone! My name is Bryan. I'm 27 years old. My families “The Hazletts” have been going

to fish creek since the late 1940's. In the late 70's my grandparents (with there two children) moved out of the tent and into a small cottage over to Donaldsons (site 333). When

I was 11 (1992) my grandfather past on and my grandmother sold the cottage. Since then I have tried to go back to fish creek every year, but as a teen with no money I only seemed to make it every 3 years. Now as a married man and looking to have children of my own in the next couple of years I believe it is time for a family start over. Time to pack up the family as much as possible and start making new memories of my own! This site will certainly help. Thank you so much. I will be checking it on a weekly bases.

It would neat to add a countdown timer for all the members to use in the profile for leading up to the day they leave for FCP! Just a thought.
